Statement from Dr. Nina--COVID-19 is not gone and the long-term effects will be with us for years to come. Infection prevention and control remain critical aspects of maintaining public health. While COVID-19 continues to have lasting effects, we are now facing a broader range of illnesses, including norovirus, avian influenza, and other emerging health threats. As we navigate these challenges, it is essential that we work as a community to stay safe. The best approach is to implement recommendations such as appropriately wearing masks in high-risk settings, practicing physical distancing when necessary, maintaining good hand hygiene, and staying home when feeling unwell. These measures are an essential part of daily life and are key to preventing the spread of infections. By working together and staying vigilant, we can create a healthier, safer environment for everyone.

As our world keeps spinning, infection prevention and control isn’t just for hospitals—it’s something we need to weave into our daily lives. And for over a decade, I’ve been helping people think about it in a practical, no-nonsense way.

Let’s be real—most of us don’t walk around with gloves and disinfectant wipes, but small habits can make a big difference. Ever grabbed a handful of fries while driving, forgetting that your steering wheel is covered in germs from the gas pump, your phone, or whatever you touched last? Yeah… now those fries come with an extra side of bacteria. Or how about dipping your fries in ketchup from a condiment bottle that’s been handled by dozens of unwashed hands? Gross, right? These are the everyday infection risks we don’t think about—but should.

That’s where I come in. I take infection prevention out of the lab and into real life, making it simple and actionable for everyone.

Whether it’s:

✅ Teaching parents how to protect their kids from germs in public spaces—because not everyone needs to be leaning over your baby in the grocery store checkout line.
✅ Helping businesses create hygiene-friendly workplaces so employees stay healthy and productive.
✅ Advising healthcare teams on practical ways to prevent infections beyond the hospital—because germs don’t clock out when your shift ends.
✅ Guiding startups and innovators in designing tech-driven solutions for everyday hygiene and infection control.

You can Google me and see my work—I break down infection prevention for real life because it’s not just about fancy policies or hospital protocols. It’s about the choices we make every day, the habits we build, and how we can stay healthy without overthinking it.

So yeah, go ahead—eat your fries. Just maybe clean your hands first. 😉

Let’s stay healthy together!
